OUR MISSION

Gen Y Council's mission is to build an informed, active Generation Y community throughout Charlotte.

Through a council of selected members and this online groupsite, we hope to create a gateway for the Gen Y community at large to help shape the future of our city. It is our hope to provide a "seat at the table" for our generation, to enable our voices to be heard, our needs and desires to be brought to the attention of both private and public groups, and to build a city that our generation will be proud to call home.

We will use this groupsite to elicit thoughts, feedback, set up townhall meetings and communicate updates on the issues that are shaping Charlotte.  Our goal is to engage and connect Charlotte's Generation Y community so that our voices can be heard.  

CHARLOTTE'S 2020 VISION PLAN 

Our first issue at hand is helping our city leaders craft an inspiring and successful plan for the future of Charlotte's urban core.  We will work with Charlotte Center City Partners and their consultants to ensure that the plan is addressing the needs of our generation.  We need the participation of the greater Gen Y community to make this effort successful!  Please register with our groupsite and become an active member.  We want to make sure everyone's voice is heard.  We expect to start working on the plan this summer and will have more information as we move forward.  See below for more information on the 2020 Vision Plan.

Charlotte Center City Partners (CCCP), in collaboration with the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, will work with a consulting team to develop and facilitate an innovative ten-year growth, development, and urban design plan for Charlotte's Center City.

The Charlotte Center City 2020 Vision Plan will set forth a vision for creating a great and memorable Center City. Based on comprehensive research and analysis, the plan will establish goals, recommendations, and strategies to guide the public and private sectors when making growth, development, and investment decisions for Uptown and the adjacent neighborhoods.
